You'd think that a SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT would be important enough for Channel 9 (our local news station) or the Wausau Daily Herald (our local newspaper, to report, but apparently, if it's in COLBY or ABBOTSFORD, it's no big deal!
The accident happened at about 7:50 this morning. I know, because I had to pull my school bus over for the fire trucks. At the time, I didn't realize it was for a school bus accident. After my afternoon route, I came home to watch the news on Channel 9 at 5 p.m. and again at 6 p.m., and there was NOTHING SAID! I knew, earlier in the day, that it was a school bus involved in the accident.
THREE students were taken to the hospital because of the accident, and yet there was NOTHING on our so-called "local" news about this.
I find it amusing that I was able to find out more information about the crash from an EAU CLAIRE TV station than I was able to find from a WAUSAU station, or newspaper!
(NOTE: For those that don't know, Wausau is 30 miles east of Colby/Abbotsford, and is considered our "local" area. Eau Claire is about 60 miles west of Colby/Abbotsford, about 30 minutes or so from the Twin Cities in Minnesota)
I really thought that the accident would be the first thing talked on the news earlier tonight, but I guess Colby and Abbotsford don't mean a thing to our big brother to the east. Apparently, Channel 9 thought it was more newsworthy to discuss: "Chair at the center of 'La-Z-Boy DWI' pulled from Ebay auction." Yea, that was on the news earlier tonight, and yet there was nothing about the school bus accident. How pathetic is that!?

PS, the school bus involved was NOT one from my company. It was another company that also drives for the district I do. The accident appears to not be the fault of the driver (my kids' former driver!). What irritates me is that there was NO MENTION of this on the news over 9 hours after it happened. Oh, and that includes their websites, which I checked for more information.
